The prompt of this essay contest is "the place I want to go the most" at our school.  I read our 2nd place's essay today, and I was deeply touched. 

 

Most students probably approached by different countries, places in the world, cities that they want to visit and all different places that's worth visiting. 

 

My student said " the place I want to go the most is my past".  I was stunned. 

 

The truth is, who doesn't want to go back to the past?  If I have a choice, would I rather go back to the past or peak ahead to my future?  Her conclusion was actually that she does not want to go back to the past and change anything, because she wouldn't be who she is today.  I can't help but wonder... if anybody has the ability to return to the past, can they resist the temptation of doing anything different to make it better?  Or everything happened in the past including all the mistakes are meant to be part of who you are, and meant to be the foundations of your future? 

 

Well, going back to the past is less possible than going to Mars.
